Leaders in Health

The Canadian Digestive Health Foundation is supported by two volunteer boards of directors. The Governing Board provides leadership in the areas of strategic planning, policy, legal and governance.  The Advisory Board manages operations, development and implementation.

Working collaboratively, these dedicated individuals advance the objectives of Foundation which are to:

  • advance the science and knowledge of diseases of the digestive organs
  • assist research, training, prevention and treatment of the conditions impairing the normal function of the digestive organs, including their functions in nutrition
  • promote dissemination of knowledge of diseases of the digestive organs through the Canadian community, and
  • assist in the development of new methods to ensure better quality of life people afflicted with these disorders.
  • Dr. Carlo A. Fallone

    Carlo A. Fallone, MD, CM, FRCP (C), AGAF, CAGF is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University, and full time gastroenterologist at the Royal Victoria Hospital of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).

    Dr. Fallone received his MD degree from the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University in 1988.  He then completed his residency in Gastroenterology and did further research training at both McGill and Queen’s Universities.

    Dr. Fallone’s research activities include clinical trials, evaluation of diagnostic tests and decision tree analyses on the topics of Helicobacter pylori, gastroesophegeal reflux disease, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal bleeding and endoscopy.  He has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles, 4 book chapters and numerous abstracts and has lectured widely on these topics.  He was a recipient of the “Chercheur-boursiers clinicien Junior 1 & 2” research scholar award from the Fonds de la Recherche en Santé du Québec.

    Dr. Fallone’s administrative positions included Site Director of the Gastroenterology Division of the Royal Victoria Hospital of the MUHC from 2001 – 2007, and he is currently the Chair of the Association of Physicians of the MUHC Department of Medicine.  He was also an elected member of the Executive of the Quebec Association of Gastroenterologists from 2005 – 2011, and has, in the past, served on several committees of and is currently serving on the executive governing board of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology as Vice President – Secretary.
