    Short-term side effects can include:

    •Decreased reaction times

    •Fatigue

    •Anxiety

    •Racing heart 

    •increased or decreased blood pressure

     

    Frequent use over a long time can: 

    •Hurt your lungs and make it harder to breathe (if smoked)

    •Make you physically dependent or addicted 

    Affect your mental health

    *Remember,  If you’ve determined inhalation is right for you, always use a vapourizer to minimize exposure to harmful compounds produced by combustion. This will minimize risks of long-term use.

      

    Safety Tips:

    •Work with a physician or NP to produce a personalized and custom treatment plan designed to improve a patient’s health and well-being - no two patients require the same mix of cannabinoids

    •Understand the risk and safety issues with cannabis, just like any other medication, including drug interactions

    •Your health care professional will determine which cannabis products are best based on your GI disorder, medical history, and current medications

    •Dosage: ‘Start Low, Go Slow, Stay Low’ - attainment of euphoria is not required for symptom control

    •Oral dosage forms are the best method for chronic conditions

    • Vapourize, don’t smoke

    • Driving recommendations (i.e. don’t drive)

     

    Medical cannabis is not recommended for patients: 

    •History of substance abuse/drug trafficking - Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome

    •History of mental health issues

    •Family history of psychosis

    •Liver disease/cardiac disease

    •Pregnancy/planning to get pregnant
