Probiotics for kids are rapidly gaining popularity. So as a parent, are you wondering if your child should take one?

Probiotics are live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host. They are used to replenish the good bacteria in the gut and restore balance in the gut.

Probiotics for kids come in pills like chewables or tablets and powder form like flavorless packets of powder to drink. They can also be found in certain fermented foods including fermented milks like some yogurt and kefir.

Probiotics can be beneficial for kids suffering from antibiotic-associated diarrhea, colic, and childhood eczema. Other conditions that can be managed with probiotics include irritable bowel syndrome, children’s oral health, liver health, functional abdominal pain, constipation, or to help digest fiber and other nutrients.

There are numerous reasons why probiotics may be helpful for your child, but you’ll want to make sure they take the probiotic most beneficial for their individual needs! In this video, we’ll go over the fundamentals of probiotics in pediatrics to help you make the best decision possible to keep even your youngest family members healthy and happy!

Talk with your doctor, pharmacist, or dietitian to choose an appropriate one that’s best for your child!
