If you have been following along with our posts, in January we wrote about Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG)<\/a>‘s guidance for mRNA COVID-19 vaccinations in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). To recap, CAG\u2019s recommendation stated: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For patients with IBD not on immunosuppressive therapy,<\/strong> the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) recommends<\/em> the COVID-19 vaccine be given (strong recommendation, moderate-certainty of evidence).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For patients with IBD on immunosuppressive therapy, <\/strong>CAG suggests <\/em>the COVID-19 vaccine be given (conditional recommendation, low-certainty of evidence). Read more about their recommendations here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the vaccine rollout happening, we know that many individuals with Inflammatory Bowel Disease are concerned and wondering if they should receive it. In the video below, Dr. Neeraj Narula, gastroenterologist at McMaster University and director of the IBD<\/a> clinic at Hamilton Health Sciences goes into more detail and provides his insights on whether IBD patients should take the COVID-19 vaccine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
