These two disorders are called&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cdhf.ca\/en\/digestive-conditions\/ibd-ulcerative-colitis\">ulcerative colitis&nbsp;<\/a>and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cdhf.ca\/en\/digestive-conditions\/ibd-crohns-disease\">Crohn\u2019s disease.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prevalence of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is increasing. Literature in the past has shown us that there tends to be bimodal distribution of when IBD is diagnosed. The first peak occurs typically around the age of 20, and the second peak occurs typically around the age of 60. 10-15% of IBD patients will present with IBD after the age of 60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the global population becoming older, 10-30% of IBD patients are over the age of 60.
