Gifts for Guts
In support of the Oakville Food Bank.
Across the world, 690 million people go to bed hungry. 1 in 5 Canadians reported going hungry at least once between March 2020 and March 2022. Hunger is a persistent issue, and food banks are one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to ensure that more people are fed.
The bulk of food bank donations are non-perishable items, but financial donations are critical to them in order to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, fresh meats, cheese and a variety of other items that provide essential energy and nutrients for the maintenance of health.
Millions of Canadians suffer from a digestive condition, or have specific dietary requirements. This holiday season, with your help, the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation would like to help and provide the Oakville Food Bank with the food they need to help those with dietary needs, and digestive conditions.
There are 700 households registered with the Oakville Food Bank for support. This is approximately 2,500 individuals, many of whom are children. Of these individuals, the Oakville Food bank has identified families registered who we would be looking to help those with a digestive condition or specific dietary requirements, below:
- Gluten-Free: 12
- Diabetic: 28
- Lactose-Free: 14
- Salt Reduced: 7
- Organic: 5
- Vegan: 2
We would like to provide “gifts for guts” for these families. These packages will include coupons for full size products that fit their specific dietary requirements, and monetary donations that will allow the food bank to direct the funds to the items they need.
A donation of $25.00 for one “gift” is recommended, but anything helps – thank you!
This program was made possible due to a sponsorship from Black Diamond.
